When I first met Meredith and Josh, I was shooting their engagement photos out in the mountains right after the whole COVID19 lockdown started lifting this summer. At the end of their shoot with me, they mentioned that they weren't sure about how their October wedding was going to go due to the new limitations we now face during this pandemic. I briefly told them, "Well, you know you can always elope! We could make it into an adventure! Climb, kayak, zipline, whatever you want! I'll document it every step of the way so your friends and family can feel included!"
The next morning I woke up to a message from Meredith and she told me she was 100% down to go this route and already had started devising a plan to venture out on a Via Ferrata and get married at the top.
The day started with us meeting at their cabin while she got ready. She made sure to pick a hair style that her climbing helmet could fit neatly under. She rolled up her wedding dress in her hiking backpack and Josh packed up his suit.
Once we got to the location, after meeting up with our tour guide and signing waivers, we ventured out on a pretty intense hike up to the Via Ferrata.
The moments we all shared climbing up to the top of the mountain are some I will never forget. The bride and groom were so happy and full of smiles. They were determined to make it to the top of this mountain, conquer it, and say their vows.
After the breath taking ceremony, and a quick portrait session, we ventured out to the rooftop of the Stanley Hotel where they signed their marriage license, popped some champagne, ate some cake, and had their first dance. It really was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
I am so happy I was able to capture all these moments and create this beautiful gallery for them to be able to look back on time and time again. I hope it acts as a reminder of all the strength and determination they have to power through times that seem a bit daunting, knowing that the greatest reward it just waiting for them on the other side of that mountain.
